He had sought the absence of thought, the void from which all creation supposedly sprang, and in a spectacular, blinding flash, he had found it. But with its arrival came a disquieting realization: he had achieved the state but had forgotten the map. He was a ship without a rudder, cast upon an ocean of pure potential, and the shore was nowhere in sight.

The light that had once seemed so pure, so illuminating, now felt like a harsh, relentless glare, stripping away any semblance of familiar form. Shapes began to coalesce from the luminous haze, not as solid objects, but as ephemeral suggestions, like memories struggling to take root. He saw the faint outline of a pulpit, then the ghostly shimmer of a congregation, their faces indistinct, their whispers a low hum that vibrated through his very bones. They were not there, not truly, yet their presence was a palpable weight, a reflection of his own past, his own purpose.

“A preacher, I was, in a world I knew,” he murmured, his voice a thin thread in the immensity. “But here, the sermons fade, the faithful blur, a forgotten hue.”
