Chapter 14
A Gambit of Notes
Elara uses a rare blues record, its unique sonic signature, as a conduit. The music becomes a weapon, a way to transmit the damning evidence.
The air in Elara's private gallery hummed with a different kind of resonance tonight, a palpable tension that vibrated just beneath the polished surface of the room. The usual scent of old vinyl and ozone from the charging crypto-wallets was now tinged with the metallic tang of fear. She held the record, a rare pressing of Bessie Smith’s “Downhearted Blues,” not with the reverence of a curator, but with the urgency of a warrior clutching a weapon. Its grooves, usually a source of comfort, now seemed to whisper a dangerous secret, a melody of impending doom.

Elara traced the edge of the record with a fingertip, her gaze fixed on the intricate etchings. "Risky is the only option left, Liam. Silas Thorne and his syndicate are tightening their grip. The blockchain is starting to stutter, and the crypto-art… it’s fading, like old photographs left in the sun." She could feel it, a subtle tremor in the digital ether, a fracturing of the immutable ledger that had always felt so solid, so eternal.
