Chapter 30

Episode 30

Prince Vlad the Impaler and His Sons.. a Fathers love

3 min read

The air in the room was thick with a quiet expectation, a stillness that only true love can create. Vlad, not as the fearsome ruler of legend, but as a father, sat by the low cot where his young sons slept. His gaze, usually sharp and piercing, was softened by a tenderness that rarely graced the battlefield. He watched the rise and fall of their chests, the slight tremors of their dreams, and a profound peace settled upon him. These were his treasures, the continuation of his line, the echoes of his own heart beating in their tiny forms.

He remembered the day his firstborn, Mihnea, had been placed in his arms. The weight of him, so impossibly small, had felt like the weight of his entire kingdom, yet also a lightness he’d never known. He’d traced the delicate curve of his ear, the fierce set of his brow that already hinted at the warrior to come, and a fierce, protective love had ignited within him. This was a different kind of battle, a constant vigilance not against invading armies, but against the world’s harshness, against the shadows that would seek to dim their young lights.

And then there was his younger son, the one who still stumbled in his steps, whose laughter was a bright, unburdened melody. This child, with his wide, curious eyes, was a reminder of the joy that existed beyond the grim realities of his reign. Vlad would often find himself simply watching him, a smile playing on his lips as the boy explored the world with an innocent wonder that Vlad had long since had to set aside. He would teach them. He would guide them. He would shield them from the thorns that pricked at every path, and nurture the blossoms of their spirits.
