Elias’s face contorted, the familiar mask of his displeasure twisting into something far more menacing. It was a storm brewing, a tempest gathering speed, and Sarah felt the familiar chill of dread creep up her spine, even as a new, steadier warmth pulsed beneath it, a warmth born in the quiet sanctuary of the hidden garden. “Assertiveness?” he scoffed, the word spat out like a venomous dart. “You call this… this *insolence*, assertiveness?”
