The worn leather of the satchel felt familiar against Sarah's shoulder, a comforting weight as she walked. Each step away from the suffocating silence of Elias's house was a breath of fresh air, a loosening of a knot that had tightened around her heart for years. The world outside, once a distant, muffled hum, now vibrated with a thousand subtle sounds – the rustle of leaves, the distant call of a bird, the gentle murmur of a brook she could barely see but could certainly hear. It was in this gentle embrace of nature that she saw it – a small cottage, nestled in a dip of land, almost as if it had grown from the very soil. It wasn't grand, not by any stretch of the imagination, but it possessed a quiet charm, a promise of stillness that sang to her weary soul. A wisp of smoke curled lazily from its stone chimney, a welcoming beacon.
