The hum of the city, usually a dull thrum beneath my fur, felt like a frantic heartbeat in my ears. Each pulse of neon light, each sputtering hover-car, seemed to echo the growing urgency in my own chest. The Syndicate’s reach was undeniable, a creeping rot in the city’s soul, and the fragments of memory I’d snatched from that terrifying encounter with Silas Vane had only solidified my resolve. Amnesia was a lonely cage, but the thought of this city, this chaotic, vibrant mess of magic and metal, falling into eternal darkness? That was a chill that went deeper than any forgotten fear.

I needed help. Real help. And that meant looking beyond the usual alleys and grease-stained workshops. It meant venturing into the forgotten corners, the places the Syndicate hadn’t quite managed to choke the life out of.

Kael was my first stop, naturally. His workshop, tucked away in a disused transit tunnel, smelled perpetually of ozone and burnt circuits. He was hunched over a tangled mess of wires, his brow furrowed in concentration, the faint glow of a holographic schematic reflecting in his goggles.
