Lady Victoria Demetria. The name itself was a curse whispered in the deepest, darkest corners of the night, a legend that had become a suffocating reality. She stood before us, not in the shadows we’d grown accustomed to, but in the heart of a derelict church, the moonlight a stark spotlight on her terrifying grace.

Her eyes, the color of a winter sky just before a blizzard, fixed on us, and I felt a tremor run through my very bones. There was no preamble, no dramatic pronouncements. Just a raw, primal fury that radiated from her like heat from a furnace. “You,” she purred, the sound a silken whip, “think you can simply *leave*?”

Jeff, bless his stubborn, arrogant heart, stepped forward, his fists clenched. He was still new to this, the thirst a constant hum beneath his skin, but his loyalty to me was a force of nature all its own. “We owe you nothing,” he spat, his voice rough with a fear he tried desperately to mask.
