He’d replayed their conversations a hundred times, dissecting her words, her laughter, the way her eyes crinkled at the corners when she was truly amused. She saw him, he was sure of it. Chloe had been right, of course. Her pragmatic advice, delivered over lukewarm coffee in the student union, had been a necessary jolt. “Liam, you’re going to overthink this into oblivion,” she’d said, her brow furrowed with concern. “She likes you. It’s obvious. You just have to… say something. Anything.” But ‘anything’ felt like a monumental task when ‘something’ involved unraveling the carefully constructed walls he’d built around his heart.
