The air in Alex’s cramped office, usually a sanctuary of organized chaos, felt thick with a new kind of tension. The hum of the ancient fluorescent lights seemed to buzz with a nervous energy, mirroring the unease coiling in Alex’s gut. The anonymous tip, once a spark of righteous indignation, had ignited a wildfire, and now the flames were licking dangerously close. Anonymous accounts, suddenly springing into existence, began to parrot accusations that twisted Alex’s well-documented integrity into something questionable. They hinted at personal vendettas, at fabricated stories, at a desperate need for attention.
