The last embers of the Cair Raymi bonfire still glowed faintly in the distance, a warm echo against the cool, crisp air of December. Cora Amauta, usually a bastion of vibrant magical energy, felt quieter tonight, a hushed reverence settling over its ancient stones. We had done it. The immediate threat, the creature that had so unnervingly disrupted our second year, was no longer a danger to the school. Yet, as I stood on the familiar overlook, gazing out at the moonlit valley, a knot of unease tightened in my stomach. The immediate danger might have passed, but the shadows, I suspected, had not entirely receded.

"Still pondering the universe, Amanda?" Santiago's voice, laced with his usual playful charm, broke the silence. He walked up beside me, leaning against the stone railing, his eyes mirroring the distant stars.

I offered a weak smile. "Something like that. Just… thinking."
