The air in the Great Hall crackled with a different kind of energy today, a nervous hum that had settled in the stone walls since the “accidents” began. It wasn't the usual excited chatter of students swapping spell notes or the gentle hum of magical experiments. This was a low thrum of unease, a constant reminder that something was amiss within Cora Amauta. Emiliano and I had spent the morning poring over the details of the latest incident. Poor Santiago, usually so steady on his feet, had tripped down a flight of stairs, his leg twisted at an unnatural angle. But the healers, after much examination, had declared the break was… odd. Clean, almost too clean, as if it had been perfectly manufactured.

“It doesn’t make sense, Amanda,” Emiliano murmured, tracing a diagram of the staircase in his worn notebook. His brow was furrowed in concentration, his usually bright eyes shadowed with worry. “The angle of the fall, the lack of any real force… it’s like he was pushed by an invisible hand, but a very precise one.”

I nodded, swirling the lukewarm potion in my mug. It was supposed to be a calming draught, but it tasted more like disappointment. “And Ayani’s encounter with the ‘rogue’ Grimoire? She said the pages were practically leaping out at her, but when Professor Elara examined it, it was perfectly still. No residual magic, no sign of being agitated.”
