The associate's illusions are dispelled, revealing the staged nature of the 'accidents'. Facundo's involvement is confirmed, but his plan is thwarted.
The air in the Grand Hall crackled with a tension thicker than any storm cloud. The flickering candlelight cast dancing shadows that seemed to mock our efforts, making the intricate carvings on the ancient stone walls appear to writhe. We stood before the assembly, a knot of fear and determination tightening in my chest. Emiliano, ever the steady presence beside me, met my gaze, his eyes holding a silent promise of support. Around us, our classmates, from the youngest novices to the seasoned seniors, watched with a mixture of apprehension and hope. The staged accidents, once so terrifyingly real, had been revealed as elaborate illusions, a cruel trick played on our trust. But the unease lingered, a phantom limb of fear from the supposed curse of the Centenary Jaguar.
"It's all a lie," I declared, my voice ringing out, more confident than I felt. "The injuries, the fear, the whispers of the Jaguar – it was all orchestrated." My gaze swept across the faces, searching for any flicker of doubt, any sign that our exposé had fallen on deaf ears.
Emiliano stepped forward, his voice calm and measured. "The illusions were masterfully crafted, designed to instill panic. But illusions, by their very nature, are temporary. They prey on what we *believe* to be true." He gestured towards a shimmering, almost transparent barrier that still hung in the air, a residual trace of the magic used to create the fabricated injuries. "This is not the mark of a mythical beast, but the signature of a skilled illusionist."
