Amanda and Emiliano discreetly seek help from trusted friends and faculty, realizing they cannot stop the elaborate plot alone. Ayani and Santiago join their cause.
The air in Cora Amauta, usually vibrant with the hum of magic and the chatter of students, had taken on a brittle quality. Each rustle of leaves, each distant shout, seemed to echo with an unspoken dread. The accidents, once isolated incidents, were now a chilling pattern, and the whispers of the Centenary Jaguar were growing louder, more frantic. Emiliano and I knew we were running out of time, but the sheer scale of the deception, the intricate weave of illusions and misdirection, was overwhelming. We couldn’t possibly unravel it all on our own.
“It’s like trying to catch smoke,” I confessed to Emiliano, tracing the rim of a chipped teacup in the quiet corner of the school library. The late afternoon sun cast long, distorted shadows across the dusty shelves, mirroring the confusion in our minds. “Every lead we follow seems to vanish. And the students… they’re genuinely terrified.”
Emiliano nodded, his brow furrowed in thought. He was meticulously sketching a complex sequence of runes in his notebook, his usual analytical calm a comforting anchor. “That’s the most insidious part, Amanda. The fear itself is a weapon. It blinds people to the truth, makes them susceptible to… whatever Facundo’s associate is feeding them.” He tapped his quill against the page. “We need more eyes. More minds. People we can trust implicitly.”
