Dust motes danced in the slivers of sunlight that pierced the ancient library’s gloom. The air, thick with the scent of aged parchment and forgotten spells, felt heavier than usual, weighted with the mystery that had begun to coil around Cora Amauta like a serpent. Emiliano, his brow furrowed in concentration, traced a faded diagram in a tome bound in what looked suspiciously like dragon hide. I sat beside him, my own fingers brushing over brittle pages, a knot of unease tightening in my stomach.
“Anything?” I whispered, my voice barely disturbing the hushed reverence of the room.
Emiliano shook his head, his gaze still fixed on the intricate symbols. “It’s all so… fragmented. The legends of the Centenary Jaguar speak of its power, its ferocity, its role as a purifier. But none of it explains *how* it’s being invoked, or why these ‘accidents’ are happening now.”
