The sun climbed higher, painting the sky in shades of gold and rose. Sofia and her mother stood together on the shore, the waves lapping gently at their feet. The city of Aegira gleamed in the distance, its towers catching the morning light like a promise fulfilled.
"Tell me everything," her mother said softly, her arm still around Sofia's shoulders.
And so Sofia did. She told her about the shards, about Lyra and Elara, about Nereus and Thalia. She told her about the Heartstone and the song that had raised the city from the deep. Her mother listened without interrupting, her eyes fixed on the distant towers.
