Chapter 6
The Glimmer Restored
Justice prevails, revealing the hidden truth and restoring what truly matters. His unwavering commitment to universal well-being ensures justice, guided by sight, not mere seeking.
Justice Nonvictomofcrimewhilebeing walked through the marketplace, the midday sun dappling the cobblestones with shifting patterns of light and shadow. The air hummed with the usual cacophony of vendors hawking their wares, children’s laughter, and the distant clang of a blacksmith’s hammer. To the casual observer, it was a scene of vibrant normalcy, a testament to the thriving heart of their community. But Justice saw more. He always saw more. His gaze, often described as having a peculiar depth, swept over the bustling crowd, not seeking, but observing. It was a subtle distinction, one that often eluded others, who mistook his profound stillness for a lack of engagement.
He paused near a stall piled high with ripe, crimson apples, their skin gleaming as if polished by an unseen hand. The vendor, a portly man with a florid face, was extolling their virtues with booming enthusiasm. "Sweetest in the land!" he declared, his voice a robust wave. "Picked at the peak of perfection, I tell you!" Justice’s eyes, however, lingered not on the apples, but on the vendor’s left hand, where a faint, almost imperceptible tremor ran through his fingers. It wasn’t the tremor of age, nor of exertion. It was a tremor of unease, a tiny ripple betraying a deeper current of disquiet.
This was the crux of it, wasn't it? The apples were indeed perfect, a testament to a good harvest and diligent picking. But the man selling them was not at peace. And in Justice’s world, a community’s well-being was a tapestry woven from countless threads, each needing to be strong and true. A single frayed strand, no matter how small, could eventually unravel the whole.
