Chapter 10
The Lunar Pull
The Spooky Moon's power is palpable, draining color and joy from the village. Amy feels its oppressive weight, threatening to crush her resolve.
The Spooky Moon hung in the sky like a bruised plum, its sickly yellow glow seeping into everything. And it was working. The normally vibrant colors of Meadowbrook Village seemed to be fading, like a photograph left too long in the sun. "This is all my fault," I muttered, kicking at a loose pebble on the path. Baby Blue Bears, usually a blur of yapping excitement, trotted beside me, his little tail tucked low. Russo Baby Bears, typically a furry tornado of enthusiastic sniffing, was walking with an uncharacteristic solemnity. They were usually the first to bounce off the walls when I even thought about pulling out my wand, but today, they just looked… subdued. Like they’d eaten too many sour grapes.
