Jackson Banks never stops talking. Ever. He even talks in his sleep. Having a conversation with Jackson is always one sided, because he never shuts up. His friends have a story to tell about their day, Jackson interrupts. His girlfriend Lisa wants to talk about how she's been doing, Jackson interrupts. One day, a gypsy woman named Elise asks Jackson for directions to the nearest store that has a restroom. But Jackson talks so long, Elise urinates on herself. Embarrassed and infuriated, Elise places a curse on Jackson. Every time Jackson talks for longer than a minute, his clothes vanish right off of his body. No matter where he is. Which makes giving presentations at an office firm a real challenge for Jackson. Elise refuses to lift the curse, until Jackson agrees to stop talking long enough to listen to her life story. Jackson finally learns how to listen to what his friends and his girlfriend have to say, instead of doing all the talking, and the curse is lifted.

- 1The Grand Overture of Jackson BanksJackson Banks is a human tornado of words, a man whose internal monologue spills out incessantly, drowning out all others. His friends, Mark and others, try to share anecdotes from their day, but Jackson's voice is a relentless flood, washing away their attempts. His girlfriend, Lisa, attempts to discuss her feelings or a significant event, only to be steamrolled by Jackson's own narratives. He's utterly unaware of the growing frustration and quiet despair of those around him. The scene opens with Jackson recounting a detailed, minute-by-minute account of his commute, completely ignoring Mark's attempts to interject about a promotion he received. Lisa sits nearby, a sigh escaping her lips as Jackson pivots to an extended monologue about his lunch.
- 2The Unforeseen Downpour and the Vanishing VestIn a bustling city square, Jackson, mid-sentence about the merits of a new brand of chewing gum, encounters Elise, a gypsy woman with piercing eyes. She politely asks for directions to the nearest public restroom. Jackson, seeing an audience, launches into an elaborate, multi-point explanation involving historical landmarks and hypothetical traffic patterns, lasting well over a minute. Elise, growing increasingly uncomfortable and desperate, tries to interrupt, but Jackson's verbal torrent continues. The inevitable happens, much to Elise's extreme embarrassment and Jackson's obliviousness. Furious and humiliated, Elise mutters an ancient incantation, imbuing Jackson with a peculiar curse: his clothes will vanish whenever he speaks for longer than sixty seconds. The scene ends with Jackson still talking, oblivious, as a faint shimmer begins around his collar.
- 3A Clerk's Catastrophe and a Date's DisasterJackson's life rapidly devolves into a series of mortifying public spectacles. During a crucial sales presentation at his office, he hits the sixty-second mark, and his suit jacket and trousers vanish mid-sentence, leaving him stark naked before his stunned colleagues and bewildered clients. A romantic dinner with Lisa takes a similar turn when he regales her with a lengthy story about his day, his shirt and pants dissolving at the table. He attempts to buy groceries, but the cashier's polite inquiry about his day triggers the curse, leaving him exposed amongst the produce. Each incident is a fresh wave of humiliation, forcing Jackson to scramble for cover and desperately try to shorten his sentences, a monumental task for him. The emotional toll begins to mount as his social life crumbles.
- 4The Curse's Condition: A Life UnspokenDesperate, Jackson tracks down Elise, pleading for the curse to be lifted. Elise, unmoved by his frantic apologies and still smarting from her public humiliation, reveals the condition: the curse will only break when Jackson truly listens to her life story. She explains that her own life has been a series of moments where she was unheard, her words dismissed. She sets a time and place for their meeting, emphasizing that he must come prepared not to speak, but to absorb. Jackson, initially resistant and viewing it as another chore, slowly begins to grasp the gravity of her demand. He realizes this isn't just about his clothes; it's about a fundamental flaw in his character that has impacted others, including Lisa. The stakes are raised as he understands the personal sacrifice required.
- 5The Echoes of SilenceJackson begins to actively practice listening, a skill he never knew he lacked. He forces himself into silence during conversations, a painful and awkward process. He starts truly hearing Mark's stories, noticing the nuances and emotions he previously glossed over. He observes Lisa, catching the subtle shifts in her expression and tone, finally understanding the unspoken frustrations and desires she's harbored. He attends a work meeting, consciously biting his tongue, and discovers the value of absorbing information and understanding different perspectives. This newfound silence, though difficult, opens his eyes to the richness of the world beyond his own voice. He begins to see the hurt his constant talking has caused and feels a pang of genuine remorse, realizing the curse is a harsh but necessary lesson.
- 6The Quiet Conversation and the Unraveling ThreadJackson meets Elise at the designated spot, a quiet park bench. He sits, takes a deep breath, and consciously quiets his own internal monologue. Elise begins to speak, sharing the story of her life – her joys, her sorrows, her struggles, her dreams – with a raw vulnerability Jackson has never witnessed. He listens intently, offering only soft nods and empathetic glances. He hears the echo of his own selfishness in her past experiences of being ignored. As Elise concludes her story, a profound sense of connection settles between them. Jackson, for the first time, offers a genuine, heartfelt response, not a monologue, but a few carefully chosen words of understanding and apology. As he speaks these few, meaningful words, the curse finally breaks. He feels a lightness, and a new ability to connect, not through endless chatter, but through shared human experience, has been born.
