The sharp, insistent ache in her nose, a constant companion for months, had finally begun to recede. It was a dull throb now, a phantom limb of pain, a physical echo of the mental contortions she had endured. The blood, the impact, the disorienting haze – it had all been a performance, a meticulously crafted illusion designed to keep her off balance, to make her doubt the very ground beneath her. And it had worked. Oh, how it had worked.

Dr. Finch. The name itself was a bitter taste on her tongue. His kindly eyes, the soothing cadence of his voice, the way he’d always seemed to understand her deepest anxieties – it had all been a mask. A predator’s gentle lure. He hadn’t been her confidant, her guide through the labyrinth of her own mind. He had been the architect of the labyrinth itself, and she, its most prized, most manipulated inhabitant.
