The first rays of dawn, hesitant at first, then bolder, painted the bruised sky in hues of rose and gold. It was a promise, a silent, unfolding testament that even the longest, darkest nights eventually yield to the light. For so long, the only dawn I’d known was the one that crept through the grime on my window, a cold, stark reminder of another day spent under siege. But this morning, this sunrise felt different. It felt earned.
The air in the makeshift command center, a repurposed warehouse buzzing with a nervous energy that was equal parts adrenaline and hope, crackled. It was a symphony of hushed voices, the click of keyboards, and the low hum of servers working overtime. The Sentinel, her face illuminated by the glow of multiple monitors, her fingers flying across the keys with a precision that still amazed me, looked up. Her eyes, usually sharp and guarded, held a flicker of something akin to awe.
“It’s happening,” she breathed, her voice barely a whisper, yet it cut through the tension like a well-honed blade. “The data… it’s all out. Everywhere. Every platform, every news outlet that’s willing to touch it.”
