Chapter 6
Miku's Wonderful World
Miku realizes her imagination is her strength. "Too anime" is simply being herself. Her friendship with Leo deepens, their shared creativity weaving a magical new tapestry for their lives at school.
Miku traced the outline of a dragon's wing, its scales shimmering with imagined moonlight. The classroom buzzed around her, a cacophony of chatter and shuffling feet that usually felt like a distant hum, a static she could tune out. But today, the whispers seemed to snag on her concentration, little barbs designed to prick her carefully constructed bubble of fantasy. "Too anime," she heard again, a familiar sting. It was Maya’s voice, laced with that particular brand of scorn that Miku had come to know all too well.
She pressed her pencil harder against the paper, the graphite leaving a dark, determined line. Her dragon was magnificent, its eyes like twin emeralds, its posture regal even in its sketched form. This was her world, a place where shy girls could wield magic and talk to mythical beasts. It was a world far more vibrant, far more real, than the beige walls and monotonous routine of Northwood High.
A shadow fell over her desk. Miku’s breath hitched, her hand freezing mid-stroke. She braced herself for another jab, another eye-roll. But when she dared to look up, it wasn't Maya’s smirking face that greeted her. It was Leo.
