The Edge of the Blade
Aaron trains intensely with Silas and Lyra to prepare for his meeting with Kael. Lyra reveals her hidden magical talent during a sparring session. A vampire scout is captured, revealing Kael's impatience and a new threat: the shadow demons are stirring.
The morning sun filtered through the cabin's dusty windows, casting long beams across the wooden floor. Aaron sat at the table, staring at his hands. He had barely slept. Every time he closed his eyes, he saw the cold smile of the vampire envoy and heard Kael's ultimatum echoing in his mind.
Lyra entered, her bow slung over her shoulder, and dropped a pouch of dried berries on the table. "Eat. You'll need your strength."
He took a handful, chewing mechanically. "How do you do it? Face something like this without fear?"
