Tonight, the champagne flowed with a celebratory sparkle, not the desperate effervescence of a forced alliance. Crystal chandeliers cast a warm, golden light, illuminating a sea of faces that now held not suspicion, but a respectful curiosity. This was it, the culmination of their uneasy truce, the grand opening that was meant to signify not just the survival of their merged empires, but their own.

Aadhya, resplendent in a sapphire blue silk sari that shimmered as she moved, felt a peculiar sense of déjà vu. The same opulent setting, the same hushed whispers of the press, the same weight of expectation. Yet, the man beside her, Vihaan, was no longer the adversary she’d loathed. He was, in a way that still surprised her, a partner. His tuxedo, impeccably tailored, seemed to soften the sharp edges of his usual intensity. He stood a little closer than strictly necessary, his presence a comforting anchor in the swirling social currents.

“Remember this room?” Vihaan’s voice was a low rumble, barely audible above the din. He gestured subtly with his chin towards the spot where they had first stood, the awkward pronouncement of their merger hanging heavy in the air.
