The hushed murmurs in the boardroom had always been a constant hum, a low thrum of ambition and calculation that Aadhya had grown accustomed to. But today, the sound was different. It was sharper, laced with a venom that pricked at the edges of her composure. The screens displaying the stock tickers, usually a source of quiet satisfaction or mild concern, now glowed with a baleful red, each dipping number a fresh stab. The merger, the precarious bridge they had painstakingly built between Mehta Hotels and Rathore Resorts, was crumbling.

“This is unacceptable,” Mr. Sharma, a seasoned board member with a perpetually furrowed brow, declared, his voice resonating with accusation. “The market was stable. Then this… this leak. And suddenly, our joint venture is in freefall.”

Aadhya’s gaze flickered to Vihaan, who stood beside her, his usual easy posture replaced by a rigid tension. His jaw was set, his eyes scanning the faces around the table, a silent challenge in their depths. He knew, as she knew, that this wasn’t a random act of market volatility. This was targeted.
