Chapter 36: The Well's Secret
The group decides to investigate the green light at the old well during daylight. They discover a hidden entrance beneath the well's cap and descend into a chamber where an ancient guardian, bound by Thorne's corruption, reveals the true nature of the threat. Elara uses her hybrid bond to communicate with the guardian, learning that the green light is a beacon for something darker. They return to the cottage with a new plan.
The morning light filtered through the cottage windows as the group sat around the table. Maren had set out fresh bread and tea, but no one reached for it. The green light from the well lingered in their minds.
Elara spoke first. “We can’t wait until nightfall. That light is growing stronger. If we go now, while the sun is high, we might have an advantage.”
Silas nodded slowly. “Daylight weakens many of the old magics. But it also reveals. If we go, we go with caution.”
