Lily's Earthly Bucket List
Lily reveals her quirky 'to-do' list for Earthly fun. Arthur, surprisingly, agrees to help, leading to comical attempts at enjoying simple pleasures like ice cream and attending a loud rock concert, much to his parents' obliviousness.
My new house was supposed to be just that – new. It was supposed to be a fresh start after Mom and Dad decided our old neighborhood was suddenly too… old. Too familiar. Too much like the place where I’d spent my entire ten years, which, frankly, was starting to feel like a really, really long time. But “new” had taken on a rather spectral quality, thanks to Lily. She was, for lack of a better term, an unwelcome (and yet, oddly persistent) houseguest who happened to be dead.
“So,” Lily’s voice, like the tinkling of tiny bells mixed with a whisper of static, echoed from what felt like everywhere and nowhere at once. “You’re *really* going to help me?”
I sighed, pushing a stray Lego brick under the sofa with my toe. “That’s what I said, didn’t I? It’s not like I have much choice. You seem to be stuck here, and frankly, your floating around my room at 3 AM is starting to mess with my REM cycle.”
