The scent of old paper and ink clung to Boniface like a second skin, a familiar comfort that had long been his sole companion. Now, however, it mingled with something else, something akin to the faint, elusive perfume Ingrid wore – a whisper of jasmine and something earthier, like rain on dry soil. He found himself at her studio, the vast, light-drenched space a stark contrast to his own dim, book-lined sanctuary. Sunlight streamed through the tall windows, illuminating motes of dust dancing in the air, each one a tiny, incandescent star in the quiet cosmos of her creation.

Ingrid moved amidst her canvases, a vibrant splash of colour against the muted tones of her workspace. Her hands, usually so sure and bold on the brush, were still for a moment as she turned to him. A gentle smile touched her lips, a subtle acknowledgement of his presence, of the shared space they now occupied. It was a space that felt both new and strangely familiar, as if they had always been meant to stand here, bathed in the same light.
