The air in our small training yard, usually alive with the scent of damp earth and the cheerful panting of Akamaru, felt heavy, thick with an unseen tension. Kuroha, usually a whirlwind of sleek black fur and boundless energy, was unusually still. Her ears, usually twitching at every rustle of leaves, were flattened against her skull, and a low, guttural growl rumbled in her chest, a sound I’d rarely heard. It wasn't the playful growl of a challenge, but a primal warning, a deep unease that vibrated through the very ground beneath my feet.

I knelt beside her, my fingers threading through her thick fur, trying to soothe the agitation that coursed through her. "What is it, girl?" I murmured, my voice barely above a whisper. "What do you feel?"

She leaned into my touch, her body trembling slightly, but her golden eyes, usually so bright and knowing, were clouded with a fear that mirrored my own. This wasn't just a stray animal or a territorial dispute. This was something *else*. Something that prickled at the edges of my senses, a dark whisper that seemed to echo the whispers of my past, the whispers that had followed the Uchiha clan like a shroud.
