The air in the training grounds always felt charged, thick with the scent of damp earth and the faint metallic tang of sweat. It was a familiar comfort, a place where the unspoken rules of ninja life were etched into every discarded shuriken and scuffed boot print. Today, though, the charge felt different, humming beneath my skin like a trapped storm. My Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan, usually a constant, steady presence behind my eyelids, felt… restless. It pulsed with an unfamiliar energy, a wildness I hadn’t encountered before.

Kiba was sparring with Akamaru, their movements a blur of synchronized grace and joyful ferocity. Akamaru, a whirlwind of fur and barks, yipped enthusiastically as Kiba dodged a playful nip, a grin plastered across his face. It was a scene so utterly *them*, so full of life, that it should have anchored me. But even their familiar chaos couldn’t entirely dispel the unease coiling in my gut.

“You’re spacing out again, Raizen,” Kiba’s voice, warm and teasing, cut through my thoughts. He’d stopped mid-spar, Akamaru panting happily at his side, tongue lolling. “Something on your mind, or are you just admiring my superior fighting skills?”
