My breath hitched, a ragged sound lost in the cacophony of battle. The air thrummed with chakra, a volatile symphony of clashing techniques and raw power. Beside me, Kiba was a blur of motion, Akamaru a furry whirlwind of fangs and fury. They were my anchors, my steady beat against the storm that raged around us. My Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan pulsed, a crimson sun in my vision, yet it was their presence, their unwavering support, that truly sharpened my focus.
“Raizen, watch your six!” Kiba’s voice, strained but firm, cut through the din.
I didn’t need the warning. Kuroha’s low growl was a vibration against my leg, a primal alarm that had already alerted me to the swift, silent movement behind me. A blur of dark fabric, a glint of steel. I spun, my arm instinctively rising to block. The impact sent a jolt up my limb, but the blade skittered harmlessly off my forearm guard. The attacker, cloaked and masked, recoiled with a hiss. Not human. Not entirely. The unnatural agility, the chilling aura… this was the same entity that had been hunting those with unique bloodlines, the one who had left a trail of fear and devastation across the land.
