The air in the abandoned warehouse tasted of rust and forgotten dreams. Silas had led me here, his usual cryptic pronouncements exchanged for a tense, focused silence that had settled over us like a shroud. He moved with a predatory grace I was beginning to recognize, his senses honed to a razor's edge, while I, despite the surge of primal energy thrumming beneath my skin, felt a tremor of unease. This place reeked of something old, something hungry.
"They know you're here, Alex," Silas finally said, his voice a low rumble that seemed to vibrate in my bones. He stood by a stack of decaying crates, his gaze fixed on the shadowed corners of the vast space. "Seraphina's reach is long, and her patience is a rare commodity."
My breath hitched. Seraphina. The name alone conjured an image of cold, unyielding power, a chilling contrast to the vague, unsettling dreams that had plagued me for weeks. This wasn't just about discovering I was a vampire; it was about stepping into a war I never knew existed. "How? How do they know?"
