Chapter 4
The Hunt Begins
An ancient vampire faction, led by Seraphina Dubois, learns of Alex's existence. They begin to hunt Alex, aiming to control or eliminate them, forcing Alex to flee.
The chill that had been a constant companion since Silas’s visit now felt like an icy hand gripping my throat. It wasn’t just the lingering fear from his cryptic warnings; it was a primal, guttural dread that whispered of eyes watching, of unseen forces stirring. Sleep offered no respite. My dreams, once a canvas for the mundane anxieties of a normal life, had become a theatre of shadows. Figures with eyes like burning embers stalked through moonlit forests, their movements unnervingly graceful, their intentions a palpable threat. I’d wake up gasping, my heart hammering against my ribs, the scent of damp earth and something ancient clinging to the air.

I forced a smile, a fragile thing that felt like it might shatter. "Just a bad dream, Lena. Nothing to worry about." The lie tasted like ash. How could I explain that the nightmares were becoming less about dreams and more about… premonitions? The feeling of being hunted, the primal fear of being prey, was no longer confined to the darkness of sleep. It was seeping into my waking hours, a constant, unnerving hum beneath the surface of my everyday existence.
