The air in the cavern was thick with the scent of damp earth and something else, something metallic and primal that clung to Lyra’s tongue. Each step echoed, a drumbeat against the oppressive silence. Her hand, calloused from years of training, tightened around the hilt of her blade. This was it. The culmination of a lifetime spent honing her skills, a singular purpose etched into her very soul. The Blood Eyed Demon.

She rounded a bend, the flickering torchlight casting dancing shadows that played tricks on her eyes. And then she saw him.

He was not the hulking monstrosity of the Order’s tales, nor the snarling beast that haunted her nightmares. He was a man, undeniably beautiful, even in his current state. Long, dark hair spilled across his shoulders, framing a face of sharp angles and sculpted bone. But it was his eyes that stole her breath. Crimson, like twin embers burning in the depths of his skull, they fixed on her with an intensity that felt like a physical blow. They were the eyes that had slaughtered her clan, the eyes that had stolen her childhood, the eyes that had fueled her every waking moment.
