Lyra stood at the precipice of the ancient ruins, the wind whipping her cloak around her like a banner of defiance. Beside her, Kael’s presence was a palpable heat, a low thrum of power that vibrated through the very stones beneath their feet. His crimson eyes, once a symbol of her deepest terror, now held a steady, unwavering gaze, reflecting the grim determination in her own. The Order had come for him. They had come to reclaim their prize, to extinguish the legend they had so carefully crafted.

“They’re here,” Lyra stated, her voice barely a whisper above the rising wind. The metallic tang of blood, faint but distinct, pricked at her senses—the scent of fear, of impending violence.

Kael inclined his head, his gaze sweeping over the desolate landscape. “I can feel them. A thousand hungry hounds, eager for the kill.” A ghost of a sardonic smile touched his lips, a fleeting expression that did little to soften the hard lines of his face. “They underestimate you, Lyra. They always have.”
