Lyra and Silas journey to find the Moonstone, guided by Mara's map and the prophecy. They discover a hidden valley guarded by an ancient spirit—the combined essence of the original peacemakers. The spirit tests their love and commitment, revealing that the Moonstone requires a willing sacrifice of their clan ties. They both offer themselves, but the spirit instead grants them the stone, warning that its power will draw both clans. As they claim the Moonstone, a beacon erupts across the land, forcing Lyra and Silas to accept that their secret is over. They must return and face the war head-on.
The mountain air grew thin as Lyra and Silas climbed, each step a rebellion against gravity and exhaustion. The map Mara had given them was worn at the folds, the ink so faint it seemed to retreat into the paper whenever they paused to read it. But Lyra trusted it. She had to. The moon was waning, and with each passing night, she felt the pull of her wolf fading, like a thread unraveling from a tapestry.
Silas moved beside her, silent and graceful even now, though she could see the strain in his shoulders. He hadn't fed properly in days, surviving on the little blood she could spare from the cuts she made on her own arm. He protested every time, but she insisted. They were in this together. If he fell, she would fall too.
"There," he said, his voice low and steady, pointing to a cleft in the rock face ahead. "The map shows a passage there."
