Chapter 7

A Deal with the Devil (or Witch)

Sarai Toho delivers a crucial piece of information, a direct link to the coven's movements, but her price has escalated. The 'skin payment' this time is more intimate, more invasive than ever before, pushing the boundaries of Bishop's usual transactional relationships. Sister Petra, witnessing the raw, unsettling exchange, is visibly shaken. Her discomfort is palpable, her nascent faith warring with the disturbing reality of Bishop's methods and her own growing, complicated feelings for the hunter. The transaction leaves a bitter taste, a mark on both their souls.

Her novice’s habit, so stark and pure, seemed to absorb the shadows of the room.
