Helena is up against a wall, having no choice but to admit her crimes, step down as lead prosecutor of Elara, having Sterling take her place. She then will have to face charges from Sterling, and face the consequences. Lina gets word to Elara that the end is near and she and Leo will be reunited. At the work camp, Nina betrays Elara and puts her in a dangerous situation
The closed hearing room of the Family Justice Council was suffocatingly small, its walls lined with dark wood that seemed to absorb every scrap of light. Sterling sat at the table, his prison uniform a stark contrast to the tailored suits of the three council members before him. Across from him, Helena's face was a mask of composure, but her fingers drummed an unsteady rhythm against the polished mahogany.
"Mr. Vance," the head councilor began, a severe woman with silver-streaked hair, "your petition to remove Mrs. Helena Vance as lead prosecutor is unprecedented. You claim misconduct and falsification of evidence."
"I do not claim it," Sterling said, his voice steady despite the tremor in his hands. "I can prove it. Patricia Wainwright's testimony was purchased. The argument the neighbor claimed to have heard was fabricated. And the evidence submitted against Elara was manipulated by Helena and her son Marcus."
