Chapter 11

A Choice to Trust

Another 'Memory Echo' strikes, triggered by a sudden equipment malfunction. The panic is immediate and intense. Elara is on the verge of retreating completely, convinced the universe is conspiring to keep her trapped. But then, she sees Liam’s steady gaze across the room, his quiet strength a visible force. She remembers Dr. Thorne’s words about choice. In that critical moment, Elara makes a conscious decision: she chooses to believe in the present, in the tangible kindness Liam offers, over the suffocating grip of her past. She chooses to trust that this new feeling of safety is real.

The moment the fragile structure of my carefully constructed peace would shatter, and I would be swept away by the tidal wave of *before*.
