The air in the Great Hall of Eldoria Academy hummed with a thousand hushed conversations, a symphony of rustling robes and murmured incantations. Sunlight, fractured by the towering stained-glass windows depicting celestial bodies and forgotten beasts, painted shifting mosaics across the polished obsidian floor. It was here, amidst the scholarly bustle, that I first truly saw her.
She stood near a cluster of advanced students, her back straight, her posture radiating an almost arrogant confidence. Even from across the cavernous space, her presence was a palpable thing, a sharp, glittering edge in the otherwise soft, scholarly atmosphere. Her hair, the colour of burnished copper, was pulled back in an intricate braid that cascaded down her back like a waterfall of fire. She wore the standard Eldoria tunic, but it seemed to fit her with a peculiar, tailored grace, as if it were spun from moonlight and ambition.
Master Lorien had spoken of other students, of the academy’s formidable ranks, but he had kept his descriptions vague, a characteristic he seemed to employ with all matters pertaining to Eldoria’s inhabitants. He’d mentioned talent, aptitude, and the occasional… friction. I hadn't understood until now.
