The air in the ruined amphitheater hummed with a nascent energy, a tremor that ran not through the stone beneath my feet, but through the very fabric of existence. It was a sensation I’d come to know, the precursor to my Chronicle Engine kicking into gear, but this time, it was different. This wasn't the focused rewinding of a single sword strike or a stray arrow. This was… everything. The Goddess had tasked me with a feat so monumental it made my head spin: to rewind centuries of oblivion, to stitch back together the torn tapestry of Erebos.
“Are you ready, Leo Vance?” the Goddess’s voice, a fragile whisper that seemed to emanate from the very dust motes dancing in the shafts of spectral light, echoed in my mind.
I took a deep breath, the dry, ancient air filling my lungs. Ready? What did “ready” even mean for something like this? I was an archivist, a keeper of records, not a god. But Erebos had no gods left, only a fading echo, and Earth was a distant, shimmering promise that depended on my success. “As ready as I’ll ever be,” I grunted, flexing my fingers. My eidetic memory, a curse and a blessing, felt like a thousand libraries crammed into my skull, each volume screaming for its rightful place.
