Lily’s heart ached with a familiar pang of sorrow as she looked at the lonely cloud. It drifted above, a vast, grey blanket obscuring the sun, its form heavy with a sadness that mirrored the village’s own. The lost melody, she now understood, was trapped within its misty folds, a prisoner of its profound loneliness. The owl, perched on a nearby branch, ruffled his feathers, his amber eyes fixed on Lily. “It misses laughter, child,” he hooted softly. “It yearns for the echoes of joy it once knew, but has forgotten how to create them.”

The cloud, in its own way, was also a victim of this silence, a solitary soul adrift in a sky that had forgotten how to sing.
