Chapter 5
Weaving the Starlight
Combining Leo's ingenuity and Maya's understanding of patterns with the creatures' wisdom, they work to stabilize the gate. They devise a plan to restore the flow of celestial energy.
The air thrummed with a new kind of urgency, a soft hum that vibrated not just in their ears, but deep within their chests. Leo, his brow furrowed in concentration, sketched furiously in his worn notebook, the charcoal smudging his fingers as he tried to capture the intricate dance of light he’d witnessed. Beside him, Maya, her eyes wide and reflecting the soft glow of Lumira and their kin, traced patterns in the shimmering dust that coated the ground. Leo looked up from his sketches, his gaze meeting Maya’s. “But a river can be redirected, can’t it? If we can understand where it’s supposed to go, and where it’s going now, maybe we can build new banks. Or at least, guide it back to its old course.” He tapped his notebook. “I’ve been trying to map the energy flow, the way the Lumina-creatures’ light pulses. It’s not random. There are patterns, cycles.”
