The air crackled, not with the usual static of a summer storm, but with a deeper, more malevolent energy. It pressed down on them, a suffocating shroud that seemed to leach the very color from the world. Kai, his Sapphire Star aura a vibrant beacon against the encroaching gloom, felt it most acutely. A cold dread, familiar and unwelcome, coiled in his gut, whispering of things best left buried. Beside him, JJ, the Emerald Spark, pulsed with a restless energy, his green electricity dancing along his skin like a nervous tremor. His jaw was set, a grim determination etched onto his young face, the thrill of adventure warring with a nascent fear. Anieldi, the Crimson Menace, stood a little apart, his hand resting on the hilt of his sword, his gaze sharp and unnervingly still. The usual easy camaraderie was replaced by a tense vigilance, the unspoken understanding that this was no mere skirmish. This was *it*.
The ancient evil, a swirling vortex of shadow and corrupted light, coalesced before them. It was a formless horror, yet within its depths, they glimpsed echoes of a woman, a face they almost recognized, twisted by millennia of hate and hunger. Her voice, a sibilant whisper that slithered into their minds, promised oblivion, and offered a perverse sort of peace in its wake.
"So," the voice hissed, laced with an ancient weariness that belied its power, "the prophesied ones have arrived. Three little sparks against an eternal night. How quaint."
