Dr. Evelyn Reed’s encrypted message pulsed on my secondary monitor, a beacon in the digital storm I’d inadvertently stirred. *“They know. Sterling is active. Your window is closing. I can help, but the risk is… immense. Meet me. Midnight. Old observatory. Coordinates attached.”*

Immense. The word hung in the air, heavy with unspoken threats. Sterling. The name had appeared in fragments of retrieved logs, a ghost in the machine, a phantom enforcer. Now he was active, a tangible danger. And Evelyn, the brilliant, conflicted scientist who’d first tossed me the breadcrumbs of this infernal truth, was offering a lifeline. An immense risk.
