Chapter 14
Confrontation
Harding arrives at the location, facing the individuals responsible for Mary's vanishing, leading to a tense and potentially violent showdown.
The old warehouse loomed like a skeletal hand against the bruised twilight sky. Rain slicked the cracked asphalt, reflecting the sickly glow of a single, flickering security light. Detective Harding’s heart pounded a heavy, familiar rhythm against his ribs, a counterpoint to the drumming of water on his windshield. This was it. The address from the anonymous tip. Harding exited the car, his trench coat billowing around him like a dark wing. He moved with a practiced stealth, his gaze sweeping the desolate surroundings. No other vehicles. No sign of movement. Just the relentless downpour and the oppressive silence. He approached the warehouse door, a massive, rusted behemoth that looked like it hadn't been opened in decades. A faint light seeped from beneath it, a beacon in the encroaching darkness.
