Silent Waters
They encounter a place of eerie silence where fish should be. Oru explains they are hiding from a larger predator. A shark circles them but leaves, teaching Nalu about unexpected allies.
The journey continued, the currents carrying them onward, but a subtle unease began to weave through Nalu’s excitement. The vibrant blues and greens of their home reef seemed to fade, replaced by a muted, almost melancholic hue. They passed through a vast expanse of seagrass, usually teeming with life, a bustling nursery for countless small creatures. Yet, today, an unnerving quiet hung in the water.
“Where have all the fish gone?” Kiko whispered, his usual playful squeak replaced by a hushed tone of concern. He darted his nose through the swaying blades of seagrass, his eyes wide. “It’s so… empty.”
Nalu echoed his sentiment. He’d always loved the lively dance of the fish, their shimmering scales a constant delight. Now, only a few solitary souls flitted nervously, disappearing behind rocks at the slightest disturbance.
