Oru's Wisdom

Oru had lived in the ocean for more years than Nalu could imagine. He had seen coral gardens grow and disappear, watched islands change their shapes with the tides, and traveled across vast oceans, surviving terrible storms that would have dashed lesser creatures against the rocks. Most creatures in the Shimmering Sea respected Oru because he remembered things others had forgotten, ancient secrets whispered by the currents and etched into the very sands of the seabed.

When Nalu and Kiko, their young hearts still thrumming with the mystery of the glowing crystal, raced back towards the familiar embrace of their pod, Oru followed, a silent, ancient shadow gliding through the water. Nalu's mother, her senses as sharp as any dolphin's, immediately noticed the unusual energy radiating from her son. His sleek body was tense, his clicks a rapid, excited jumble.

“Nalu?” she whistled, her concern a gentle ripple in the water.
