The Chamber of Echoes
The chamber shakes, and the doorway vanishes. They are swept into a cave that echoes with memories and illusions, testing their resolve and ability to discern truth.
The golden doorway, once a beacon of hope, now seemed to mock them. As Nalu, Kiko, and Oru touched their respective symbols – the dolphin, the turtle, the whale – with a shared anticipation, the stone remained impassive. They needed the whale's song, Mara's powerful melody, but she was far beyond their reach. Just as despair began to creep in, a faint, distant echo of a whale's song vibrated through the water. The whale symbol on the door pulsed with a soft, ethereal light. Then, with a deep, resonant groan that seemed to emanate from the very bones of the ocean, the golden doorway swung inward.
Beyond lay not the prize they sought, but a vast, echoing chamber. At its center, a stone pedestal stood empty, a silent testament to a missing treasure. Nalu swam around it, his heart sinking. “Where is it?” he whispered, his voice swallowed by the immense space.
Oru, ever observant, examined the smooth, grey stone of the pedestal. His ancient eyes traced faint markings etched into its surface. “There are words here,” he announced, his voice calm but carrying a weight of significance. “It says… ‘The pearl cannot be taken. It must be earned.’”
