The Golden Doorway
Mara's distant song opens the golden door. Inside, they find a pedestal, but the Crystal Pearl is missing, and ancient markings state it must be earned, not taken.
The golden doorway, intricately carved into the very rock of the ocean floor, shimmered with an otherworldly luminescence. It was a marvel of ancient artistry, yet it lacked any visible handle or latch, its surface smooth and unbroken save for three distinct symbols etched into its center. Nalu gazed at them, his heart thrumming with a mixture of awe and trepidation. A dolphin, a turtle, and a whale. He knew them all.
“The symbols,” Nalu breathed, his voice barely a whisper against the gentle current. “They must be the key.” He extended his snout, tentatively touching the dolphin symbol. It felt cool and smooth beneath his skin, but nothing happened. The doorway remained resolutely shut.
Oru, his ancient eyes filled with quiet observation, moved forward. With a slow, deliberate motion, he nudged the turtle symbol with his beak. Still, no change. The golden light pulsed softly, indifferent to their efforts. Nalu’s spirits began to sink. Mara, the great whale, was far away. How could they possibly open this door without her song?
