The journey had been long and filled with a growing unease. The vibrant blues and greens of their home reef seemed a distant memory, replaced by a muted palette of gray and a disquieting warmth in the water. Nalu, Kiko, and Oru had seen the signs – the broken coral, the tangled net, the unnervingly silent waters where life should have teemed. But now, as they navigated a vast expanse of open ocean, a new sound vibrated through their very bones. It was a deep, resonant hum, a sound that seemed to emanate from the heart of the sea itself.

Kiko, ever the first to react, nudged Nalu with a nervous flick of his tail. "What is that?" he squeaked, his usual boisterous tone subdued.

Oru, his ancient eyes fixed on the horizon, answered with a calm certainty that always settled Nalu’s racing heart. "It is a song," he rumbled, his voice like pebbles shifting on the seabed. "A whale song."
